About ALP
Asylum Law Project exists to provide a meaningful public interest opportunity for law students. First-year students travel throughout the U.S. during winter or spring breaks to provide pro bono legal assistance to organizations that work with political refugees. The project fills a substantial need for legal assistance to underrepresented political refugees seeking assistance with asylum applications. It also allows first-year law students to gain practical experience in several areas, including: interviewing clients, learning current asylum law, presenting oral arguments, working with interpreters, and assisting people who may have been victims of religious or political persecution.
